ArtisanHD Race Car Speeds through the Scottsdale Grand Prix

scottsdale-grand-prix-2016_8Now in it’s second year, the Scottsdale Grand Prix is quickly becoming a community and corporate event that showcases the excitement and design of years past. While the inaugural event set the standards and made history with most street closures in Scottsdale’s history, the bar soared higher at the recent 2016 event.

“The Grand Prix of Scottsdale is a celebration of the roaring 1920’s era race cars, their legacy of craftsmanship and the ladies and gentlemen who aspired to drive them.” -Scottsdale Grand Prix

On November 4-6, 2016, the second annual Grand Prix of Scottsdale 2016 roared through the streets of downtown Scottsdale, AZ. The festivities of the weekend kicked off with a VIP Gatsby Gathering in which women donned flapper dresses and men showed up in dapper pin stripes and suspenders. A Dine & Drive Breakfast helped fuel up teams before taking to the streets. A marketplace and family fun zone rounded out the extra curricular activities. But of course the real show stopper was the Grand Prix race – complete with a winner’s circle closing!

Mayor Jim Lane drove the Scottsdale Grand Prix pace car on Sunday – race day. Teams and pit crews huddled in, and spectators lined the half mile course along the downtown streets. This unique race course had drivers sailing past the landmarks, galleries, restaurants and shops that the Old Town Scottsdale neighborhood is known for. Social media was buzzing with spectators using hashtags popular for this unique area ( ).

Race teams were made up of both national corporations and local organizations that then branded their race cars. As a sponsor and professional printing partner of the event, ArtisanHD took full advantage of the opportunity! Their lean, mean purple driving machine was a force to be reckoned with and definitely a visual standout among the crowd. Although the Artisan Team didn’t make it to the victory lap, they had a blast designing and driving their race car.

The 2016 Scottsdale Grand Prix winner’s circle belonged to car #511: Almeida Molecular Imaging Fund (an Arizona-based 501(c)(3) focused on prostate cancer). Second and third place went to Marcellino Ristorante and In-Ground Trampolines, respectively. This diverse winner’s podium just shows how many different companies and organizations were apart of the event! And like ArtisanHD, many are planning how they can come back stronger in 2017!

A Homage to an Influential Era

The Scottsdale Grand Prix is a true celebration of the roaring 20’s and the homegrown Arizona-made Vintage Kart Company’s Mini Racers that used to roar through streets around the world during this time period. The authentic, yet state-of-the-art race cars in the Grand Prix, are hand-assembled at the Vintage Kart Company’s facility in Mesa, AZ. Every race car is unique, even numbered and signed by its creators, furthering the quality, craftsmanship and pride of the nearly century old era.

Dubbed a ladies and gentlemen’s race, the events and the race cars really captured the vintage vibe while maintaining the legacy of vehicle craftsmanship and paying homage to the ladies and gentlemen who aspired to drive in the open air. And in keeping with the bygones of the time, the majority of events were free for spectators, just like those who watched the mini cars race back in the day.

The weekend events were not without a good cause, too. In 2016 money raised from the Scottsdale Grand Prix is going to non-profit partner Southwest Human Development.

Vehicle Graphics & More

ArtisanHD.com, a subsidiary of Artisan Colour, Inc., was a proud sponsor of the Scottsdale Grand Prix 2016 and was the primary partner in the printing of graphics, signage, VIP passes, sales decks, event posters, barrier banners and the alumigraphic start/finish line. Of course ArtisanHD also printed the vehicle graphics for the their own metallic purple race car!

This second annual event is sure to make the Scottsdale Grand Prix a staple in the community and corporate calendar. Congratulations to the City of Scottsdale, local vendors, Grand Prix race teams, and especially winner Almeida Molecular Imaging Fun!
