Ever wondered how your photos would look mounted in an art gallery? Asha Wadher, creator of Twizted Myrtle and client of ArtisanHD, made her dream a reality. For her recent invitation-only artist reception, she came to Artisan seeking the best acrylic prints for her gallery showing.
Mike Goldner, ArtisanHD’s print guru, has worked with Asha for several years.
“Helping emerging photographers realize their vision is something we take great pride in here at ArtisanHD. When I first had the opportunity to work with Asha on several prints for a local exhibit, we explored all possible materials for the best possible presentation, sizes, etc.
We collaborated on everything from image selection to signature placement and color. Asha belabored over every little detail in her work. She constantly scrutinizes her work to make sure it meets the highest quality and standards. If an image is marginal in her mind, she won’t even consider it for print. Guiding her through scores of print options for the best possible output and seeing her photography expertly printed on display is immensely satisfying. I look forward to assisting her for years to come. She is surely a rising digital artist and photographer to watch.”
How did Asha hear about Artisan?
A fellow talented and very creative photographer, Michael Luna, referred me to Artisan. I met with Mike at Artisan and the rest was history!
We were thrilled to attend Asha’s exhibition of travel photography on March 22, 2018 at Off Madison Ave. The event showcased images from all over the world, including Iceland, Greenland, Botswana, Uganda, Thailand, and the United States.
A compelling, compassionate artist, and “an explorer of the mind and globe,” Asha is truly a unique soul. She has mastered the art of metamorphosis in body, mind, and soul. Asha has reinvented herself, from a career in the hospitality industry to launching and growing a successful e-commerce technology company, including notable clients like Amazon, Samsonite, and Taylor Swift.
During her seeming success, Asha found herself in the throes of depression. She became acutely aware her “success” was empty and like many, she was chasing unhappiness. Ironically, her depression revealed spiritual clarity and photography became a sacred respite that unleashed a strident voice and the creation of Twizted Myrtle – a multi-pronged platform to confront social issues through her captivating photography, thought-provoking podcasts and provocative writings.
Bringing a refreshing curiosity with the unique empathy of a true global citizen, she speaks with an open mind and unfiltered honesty on a host of issues where most would fear to tread. Her work compels us to see and think differently.
Interview with Asha – Twizted Myrtle
Please tell us a little about your background.
I was born in India, grew up in Oman, lived in London, and finally settled in the U.S. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from ASU. I’m certain I got the travel bug from my Mom. Thanks to her, I’ve been traveling the world since I was two years old. My world travels have and continue to be an enriching source of education – intellectually, emotionally and soulfully.
Can you give us a brief description of the event in March?
While my work has graced galleries in Scottsdale and Univision, the event at Off Madison Ave was my first artist reception. The event was exclusive and intimate. And the venue was delectably creative – the perfect space to showcase my Twizted work.
What was the inspiration behind your work on display?
Every project I embark on is grounded in one purpose – to challenge our thoughts, values, beliefs, judgments and stereotypes. The photography on display ranged from landscape to wildlife to people. Each image hopefully compelled the audience to think of their contribution to world in terms of climate change, extinction of wildlife, discrimination or as simple as appreciating our beautiful planet and the moment that is NOW!
Acrylic Prints and More
Can you tell us about what we printed for this event?
Artisan also printed 6″ x 8″ postcards and an 8 ½” x 11″ pearlescent look book for the event.
Would you recommend Artisan to other photographers? Why?
No Doubt! Mike Goldner is simply amazing! His expertise and intimate knowledge about all the versatile printing options, especially the best acrylic prints, is valuable. He always takes the time to educate me, and works collaboratively – that helps me make sound decisions. Mike cares about my work and wants to help demonstrate it in the best light possible. Every team member I’ve worked with at Artisan exudes the same work philosophy and approach. Gretchen has been an absolute delight to work with as well. It really is a team effort.
