More than printing. We’re Artisan.

It’s part of our tag line, and we mean it. In such a commodity-driven world, the “more” becomes very important. Yes, there are many printers out there. And yes, many of them will let you order online with relative ease. But what happens if your print/image needs a little extra TLC, or a personal review from a true expert? Would your current printer go the extra mile, even if it’s just for ONE print? We do, and we have the reviews to back it up! In the customer quotes below, you’ll discover the ArtisanHD value-add, from requests to print on metal to customer service that raises the bar.

Richard Barker’s Print on Metal

The first time I worked with Artisan Colour I brought in a big sheet of old, rusted metal and asked, “Can you print on this?” They immediately took me right back to the print shop, checked out the piece of steel and ultimately said, “No, it’s not flat enough and would probably break our machines.”

The quick answer was, “No.”

But the point here is that they didn’t sigh and shake their heads and say, “We don’t do that kind of thing.” They took the time to consider my request without rushing me out the door because they were in a hurry to get on to a large corporate customer. In fact, they said, “ Bring in a flatter piece of steel and we’ll give it a try.” Which I did, and they did print on metal, and my oddball artistic idea became a reality.

Artists are nothing if they don’t open themselves up to oddball thoughts. And creating can be so difficult if you don’t have partners who will take you seriously and run with you.

Most printers I’ve worked with in the past simply don’t choose to work with an artist but rather choose to have the artist work with them… within the printers’ perceived realm of possibility. “We do this. I understand what you want but I think you really want to do it this way.” In other words, stay within our rather narrow parameters and all will be well.

I certainly understand that there are limitations. And I would imagine that Artisan has many of the same physical limitations as all printers. But where they’re not limited is in imagination. They have that unique openness of thought that gives them the ability to work beyond arbitrary limits. Maybe more importantly, they have the creative agility to bring an artist’s concept to life.

I’m a very, very small client for ArtisanHD. They don’t make much money from my little corner of the art world, but you sure can’t tell that by the way I’m treated. The personal attention they give me is unmatched in my experience. I think they kind of like the challenges that wacky artists bring to them. The fact is, the people I’ve worked with here are artists themselves and have that wonderful openness to “what if”.

In my estimation, all business should be considered a partnership, not a transaction; a sharing of expertise, not a limiting of possibilities by pre-conceptions; a respect for what each brings to the table; a joy of being involved in the process.

To me Artisan Colour has met and exceeded what I believe a good partnership should be.

We really appreciate this kind of feedback, and are proud to share more! Here are a few recent reviews that highlight just how far we will go to make sure our most valuable assets – our customers – are taken care of.

Michael Murray’s Holiday Reroute

Michael Murray - print on metal exampleWhen I inadvertently shipped a limited edition print to a customer before signing it, Artisan was quick to have it rerouted back to their facility to resolve my issue. When I then showed up during the holiday season –– right before New Year’s Eve –– I was met by no less than the company’s president, Doug Bondon, who was genuinely happy to assist me and get my order on its way in a matter of minutes. Folks, this is what topnotch, white glove service really looks like. Outstanding!

Chuck Vincent’s Large Prints

I just got in another round of prints, but went up in size to 52″ and the results from ArtisanHD were stunning. In addition to their Five Star Quality, their customer support was Top Shelf all the way. Thanks to F. Mark Hubbard for suggesting that I use Artisan.
