Ever wonder what happens before a custom made print leaves our shop? After a print is made, we don’t just pop it into a box and cross our fingers. We check for quality control at every step of the production cycle.
When Quality Control Starts
Before it’s even made, our pre-press team looks at each file and prepares it for the destined out-put. If we spot a problem with the file, we’ll reach out and check with you before we proceed.
Once a print is made, it goes through the first visual inspection by one of our experienced artisan print makers.
After that, it’s off to finishing. Be it mounting, cutting, trim…it all gets checked & verified for quality control and accuracy against the job-ticket.
Again, the print is visually inspected for quality before it gets handed off to packaging. There, your prints are carefully hand-packed, boxed up and a shipping label is printed with all the box contents listed.
Only then do we scan it in for shipping, apply the labels and send it on it’s way.
Damage During Shipping?
What if it gets there and was damaged in shipping? No worries, we will handle the entire process for you. All we need is a few photos of the box, the damage to the print and we will make a new print right away (no charge), send it out and handle the shipping claim in the meantime. Still curious about our superior quality control? Check out our many reviews here!

Yes! ArtisanHD offers custom self-adhesive vinyl wallpaper and traditional commercial wallpaper. Show off your favorite memories, and make your space entirely personalized.
Create a larger-than-life design, mural, or business branding. Or, complete your mancave, fancave, bedrooms, or even the garage with ArtisanHD high definition custom wallpaper.
Vinyl Wallpaper vs Traditional Wallpaper
Our self-adhesive vinyl wallpaper is highly durable. Self-adhesive vinyl is simply stuck onto walls or other surfaces. Vibrant colors and high durability make this a great choice for any internal or external wall application.
We also offer traditional, commercially-rated wallpaper. Traditional wallpaper is applied with brushes and paste. Wallpaper comes rolled, ready for hanging. We do recommend hiring a professional for this type of installation.
Check out our Custom Wallpaper Product Page for more information.
We make professional photo printing online easy! We can accept the following file types: TIFF, JPEG, PSD and PDF. The maximum file size you can upload is 1.2 GB. We recommended you use Adobe RGB 1998 Color Space.
You can upload any of these file types for photo and fine art printing as long as the file does not exceed 1 gigabyte – which is quite a lot of memory for one photo!
Easy Professional Photo Printing Online
Just to give you a perspective on size, one 10-megapixel JPEG image will average about 4.5 megabytes. There are 1000 megabytes in a gigabyte. Wondering about pixels and bytes and printing? Check out our blog!
An online professional printing company may offer digital photos on canvas, but you’ll want to be sure that you obtain the services of a company with experience, a well-known reputation of high quality results and personalized customer service.
With the advent of large format printers, printing digital photos on canvas has become very popular and affordable. However, the quality of the canvas prints varies enormously.
You may have to do a little research before you find the company you want to upload your photo to, but here are a few tips to help you separate the online professional printing companies from the cheap, discount printer factories.
What makes a Professional Printing Company Stand Out?
To print digital photos to canvas while delivering high quality results, the printing company should have the best and most technologically advanced inkjet printers available.
Also import are the materials. When a true professional is printing digital photos on canvas, high quality canvas is essential. If you decide to upload your photos to a company with cheap prices, you will probably get a poor canvas reprint. The total effect will be much less pleasing than with the superior poly-cotton canvases we use.
To print digital photos to canvas you want sharp, crystal clear reprints. This requires the use of the finest inks in the market. The ink used should be the ink specifically manufactured for the specific printer used. Other ink brands may be available for a particular printer, but only the manufacturer’s ink can be trusted to produce high quality canvas reproductions.
When comparing prices, don’t go the cheap way unless you want substandard results. Besides, printing digital photos on canvas with an established, professional printing company is absolutely affordable. When you upload your photographs online with the professionals, you can be sure you will get a gorgeous result.
Customer Service You Can Count On
If you have questions, make sure the company has a way for you to contact them. And research what types of personalized customer service they provide. Do they have a customer guarantee for full satisfaction? Digital photos printed on canvas should be finished with a UV-protective coating that will protect the canvas from fading and scratching. Does the company make this a part of their workflow?
Make sure that when they print digital photos to canvas, they allow for previews of the reprints before purchase.
When printing digital photos on canvas, the printing company should offer you a completely finished product, including finish and mounting options.
The printing process used is very important for optimum resolution. If their printing process is giclée or high definition, you’re in good hands.
You’ll be happy to know that ArtisanHD meets all of these standards!
You never have to worry about stretching a canvas yourself unless you want to do it yourself. Since we’re experts in custom stretched canvas prints, most people want us to do it.
Custom Stretched Canvas Prints
Unless you choose and tell us otherwise, we professionally stretch your photos on canvas over a 1.5″ wooden frame. You can choose to have a plain stretched canvas so that you can frame it yourself, or you can choose a gallery wrapped canvas, a process that requires no frame. With this type of mounting, we wrap the photograph around the edges of all four sides of the frame, giving it a totally finished and gallery-like look.
We guarantee that our custom stretched canvas prints will go beyond your expectations. Added to that, our personalized service will never let you down!
Printing on canvas is becoming more and more popular for amateur and professional photographers. Digital Printing on Canvas is gaining popularity over photographic paper for a number of reasons.
Unlimited Options with Digital Printing on Canvas
Because ArtisanHD has large format printers, you have a huge variety of different sizes from which to choose. You can have your photos enlarged or reduced to practically any size you desire.
When you print digital photos on canvas, your reprints obtain a quality that is hard to surpass. Because of the natural texture of canvas, printing photos on canvas gives depth, breadth and artistry to your work.
With our giclée printing process, your photos will look like fine art prints and not cheap reproductions. Once you see the results, you will feel you have purchased your own personal art collection to put in your home or office.

When you place your order online for custom photo canvas prints, you have a choice of how the canvas will be finished.
Hand-stretched canvas prints are stretched to fit over a 1.5″ deep wood frame or “stretcher bar.” If you want your prints framed afterwards, you will want to order simply the canvas print. That way you can buy a frame that you feel accentuates and enhances your digital canvas print.
Enhance Your Images with Gallery Wrap
However, if you want your custom photo canvas prints to stand alone unframed, you will want a gallery-wrapped canvas. Gallery-wrapped canvases are mounted in such a way as to give your photograph a more three-dimensional and artistic quality. Some photo subjects look better gallery-wrapped than others. Large, natural landscapes or photos of a flower are good examples of when to choose gallery-wrapped canvas because the mounting process adds to the effect of a story artfully continued.
Our experienced staff will wrap the canvas around all of the edges of a wooden frame and secure the canvas in the back. When complete, the canvas has a totally finished look. No frame is needed and it’s ready for hanging.
Once you see the extraordinary results ArtisanHD produces, you will never look at your camera the same way. You will find yourself choosing subjects for an end result you never believed possible.

It’s a very unique way to decorate.

This material can also be used for vehicle wraps. The “decals” on race cars, buses, and trucks, for example, are some of the commercial uses of custom wall wraps. These wraps are printed in high definition using fade resistant UV Eco Solvent protected inks.
Yes! Simply put, print profiles ensure that your images print true to life, and match with perfect color after the ink has dried. Our goal is 100% perfect color.
What are print profiles?
Print profiles are files that determine how colors are printed with a specific printer and paper. Combined with our print profile software, this transforms the image from the color space (range of colors) to the color space for the printer and paper. If your image has an embedded profile, we use this to determine the print profile.
We are often asked if we have or need ICC Profiles. The short answer is NO.
Why? Well, that requires a little deeper dive into what ICC profiles are. According to Wikipedia, this is the technical explanation:
In color management, an ICC profile is a set of data that characterizes a color input or output device, or a color space, according to standards promulgated by the International Color Consortium (ICC). Profiles describe the color attributes of a particular device or viewing requirement by defining a mapping between the device source or target color space and a profile connection space (PCS). This PCS is either CIELAB (L*a*b*) or CIEXYZ. Mappings may be specified using tables, to which interpolation is applied, or through a series of parameters for transformations.
Every device that captures or displays color can be profiled. Some manufacturers provide profiles for their products, and there are several products that allow an end-user to generate his or her own color profiles, typically through the use of a tristimulus colorimeter or preferably a spectrophotometer.
In Layman’s Terms
In layman’s terms, each paper product has its own unique white point. So if you are printing at home, and you tell your ink-jet printer that you are using XYZ Media with a specific ICC profile, the printer recognizes the TONE of that paper. But we don’t run our prints on basic desktop printers. We use the manufacturer’s profiles for all the commercial stock we carry, so we really count on our customers to give us the widest possible color gamut and take care of it from there.
If you assign Adobe RGB (1998) to your file before you “save as” or “export” your file, you are preserving a wider range / gamut. This helps us in printing anything from direct digital prints to rigid stock such as Sintra (PVC) or brushed aluminum Dibond. For soft stock, such as canvas or adhesive vinyl, it works the same way.
But where it is MOST important is in the photo printing process. Since we use a laser-exposed true archival photo media (Such as Fuji or Kodak), we want as much color info as possible. Using ICC in this case is the wrong approach, as we are not printing INK onto that paper. We use light, then chemically develop the print (RA-4) for a true, archival photo print.
So What Should We Send You?
Our preferred file type is an uncompressed .TIFF, at minimum 150-300 DPI at full print size, with Adobe RGB (1998) as the color profile. Yes, .JPG works, and yes, sRGB works, but you can get more out of your file if you use Adobe RGB (1998).
We hope this answered your questions or taught you a little bit about ICC profiles. Visit ArtisanHD.com to upload and print your images today!
A very common question we get at ArtisanHD is whether we prefer sRGB vs Adobe RGB color profiles. You will get the best results if your photo or artwork has Adobe RGB 1998 as the color profile.
sRGB vs Adobe RGB Color
If you do not convert your image file to Adobe RGB 1998, we will convert it for you. However, be aware that the colors may turn out slightly different than they appear on your computer screen. We STRONGLY suggest looking at your artwork or photo converted to the proper file type before sending it to us. This is especially important for flesh tones, which are muted in SRGB.
For more information about our file preferences, read this FAQ.

Large format prints are reprints of digital photographs, graphics, or art produced on wide-format printers. Customers can order custom large format prints online from ArtisanHD for personalized or company graphics use. Our wide-format printers use inkjet technology capable of printing on a variety of mediums, from canvas to plexiglass, and produce large custom format digital prints anywhere from thirty-six inches in width to over one hundred inches in length.
Here are some applications for custom large format prints:
- Vinyl Banners
- Wall Hangings
- Window Art
The special inks and inkjet printers that we use to produce our large format prints create not only stunning reprints, but also durable, scratch-resistant, fade-resistant, and long lasting works of art.
If the resolution of your photo requires some boosting, or your subject has a bad case of red eye, or the exposure and/or contrast isn’t exactly right, our computer-experienced digital art artists will work to fix any problem*.
Rest assured that your photo will not be sent straight to our large format printers for production without human intervention if we feel the photo will yield a poor canvas reprint. We will always contact you if we cannot fix a problem photograph.
*Please note: enhancing photos or Photoshop work may be billed by the hour for digital art artists, upon approval from the client.
When you upload your image file to our online HD configurator, our software will determine the resolution quality. It will tell you if the resolution is too low for bigger sizes of digital canvas printing.
To help you gauge the right size, you can even see your custom artwork compared to common household furniture items, like a couch.
Unlike the practices of some discount printing houses, if the resolution of your photo is too poor for the size that you select to print, we will contact you before we start working on your digital canvas printing order. The integrity of your image and product are important to our customer service team – that’s what we’re here for!
Check out some tips for high resolution printing, here!
Our online services include specialized software that will tell you if your HD photograph file is the best size for your desired print type and size. Use our online Customizer HERE.
You can also rest assured that your file and your order are reviewed by a person before the order starts. And if the file size is too small for your order, someone from our customer service department will let you know.
In the world of digital photography and printing, resolution determines quality. In digital photography, itty-bitty squares called pixels make up the photo image we see. The more pixels a camera has, the more image information it can receive. Therefore, higher numbered pixel cameras produce higher resolution photographs… leading to a clear, crisp HD print.
From HD Camera to HD Print
Photographs with higher resolution can more easily be reprinted into large format high definition prints. That’s why we include a scanning service as part of what we offer. When you order custom HD prints online, our scanners turn your photos into high-resolution images.
Our printing company is able to produce customized large format prints in HD because of our printers’ capacities. Whereas cameras and images are made up of pixels, the printer creates high definition canvas prints (also high definition plexi and acrylic prints) on three different machines using a measurement called DPI (dots per inch). The higher the DPI, the higher is the definition of the reprint.
Our printers boast the highest DPI available. In plain language, that means the high definition giclée prints, wall murals, and the custom HD prints online that you order from us are crystal clear in their color and incredibly sharp in their appearance. When you take advantage of our printing service, you feel you are living in the moment of the photo. It’s an extraordinary experience!
ArtisanHD offers custom, large format vinyl banners and signage. These can be for indoor or outdoor use, depending on your needs. We typically use a solid vinyl material with an interwoven core. This material is waterproof and fade resistant, and is very strong and durable.
Our print customers have several finishing options. Grommets, hemming, pole pockets, and sewn edges are all available options. We can also print to a self-adhesive vinyl that can be used as a vehicle wrap, or a wall mural installation.
Although vinyl banners have long been used for commercial purposes, they can also be used in your home or office.
Some great ways to use full color vinyl banners are:
- Special events
- Fundraisers or Banquets
A Duratrans light box is a large format display, featuring a metal frame and LED lights.
You may not be familiar with the terms Duratrans or lightbox, but you have probably seen these products used in commercial displays at airports, shopping malls, bus stops, offices and hotel lobbies.
A Duratrans print is placed in this frame, creating a backlit poster, graphic or photograph. ArtisanHD offers Duratrans transparent photo prints, and we can custom order the lightbox to display your Duratrans print, if needed.
Duratrans prints have a digital resolution of up to 4,000 dpi (dots per inch), as compared to other materials with a maximum of 2,880 dpi. The results are truer, more vibrant colors, and sharp, crisp details. This method offers unique reprints of your favorite artworks, photographs and graphics.
Unfortunately, at this time ArtisanHD cannot ship custom photo art prints overseas or to locations outside of the United States.
Please contact us with any specific shipping questions or to make domestic shipping arrangements.
At ArtisanHD, we don’t believe that any print should be “standard.” We believe that every print is special and unique, so we won’t limit you to “standard” sizes. Every single work of art that we create for you is created to your own unique “custom” size that you specify. Because of this dedication to creating works of art that are as unique as you are, a standard list of photo printing prices doesn’t apply.
Giclée, from the French meaning to spray and pronounced “gee-clay,” is a printing process from which digital prints are reproduced using ink-jet printing. Artisan HD specializes in the Giclée on Canvas method. With our large format inkjet printers, we can transfer your artwork and photography projects into fine art giclée prints.
Our giclée printing services are always in high demand because of their indisputable beauty. One of the reasons for this demand is that giclée canvas printing requires special light-fast inks. We use only the best quality inks, inks that highlight all of the shades, nuances, and hues of the color of the original digital photograph or painting.
What are some reasons fine art Giclée prints on Canvas are such a good idea?
Giclée canvas printing allows photographers to reproduce their photographs onto a completely new medium, other than traditional photo paper. With giclée reprints, we can reproduce digital images to just about any size you want. The results are astounding. Fine art giclée prints on canvas are also very durable, and under the right conditions, last a long time.
In the case of professionals, the original work can be multiplied in a limited run for sale purposes. This is very cost-effective for artists with limited budgets. The large format printers used to produce giclée prints work extremely fast and are capable of replicating thousands of prints in a short period of time.
“Buyer Beware” of Cheap Giclée Impersonators
Be careful from whom you order your giclée on canvas reprints. They promise you a cheap giclée print and then mail you a print made on canvas paper. Canvas paper is made to replicate a canvas look but it is not made from the high quality poly-cotton canvas we use. Canvas paper is a linen derivative with an embossed finish. When you place an online order, make sure that the company from whom you are ordering has large format inkjet printers, and not copy machines.
Direct to substrate prints, also known as direct to board prints, can be used in a variety of creative ways. You can print your favorite photos, artwork, or design using this method dierctly on to Sintra or Gatorboard. Then hang the custom artwork in your home or office. It’s also a wonderfully unconventional way to display graphics, such as point of sale signage in a retail space.
A few direct to substrate ideas for application and uses are:
- Floor Tiles
- Room Dividers
- Chair Seats
Wondering what a substrate is? Check out the answer in another FAQ.
Direct to Photo Board prints, also known as hard surface prints, are great for both indoor and outdoor environment. The printing process used to create them makes them durable in almost any environment. The key is the UV curing ink applied to the rigid surface, either Sintra or Gatorboard, using our high definition large format inkjet printer. Using powerful UV light, the printer then cures the ink. This curing process offers incredible durability, which is why hard surface prints are suitable for outdoor displays without any protective coating. Direct to photo board prints also hold up well to indoor displays that receive a lot of direct sunlight. The perfect choice for any environment!
Direct digital printing to a board is a specialized high-tech printing process where an image is printed directly on a solid rigid medium like wood, plastic, or metal (tin, steel, and aluminum), instead of on vinyl, photo paper or canvas.
Yes, when you select a plexiglass design and your print is directly mounted to the plexiglass, the museum mount is also bonded directly to the back of the print.
You also have the option to add another before the museum mounting. This is called Acrylic Print Encapsulation. If you are interested in this specialized plexiglass design and mounting option, please contact our Artisans directly at (877) 948-0009. We will gladly create a custom design and quote for you. No matter how your artwork is mounted and displayed on your walls, the plexiglass print will make your images truly shine and stand out!
In terms of quality, when you upload your digital photos, you will get the same high quality reprints from custom plexiglass and canvas prints. Both are the result of a direct printing process using large format inject printers. However, the finished products look quite different from each other.
Our custom plexiglass / acrylic printing produces a sleek, shiny, modern glass reprint. With crisp, clean edges and sharp colors, acrylic prints look great in a home, office or gallery.
Our custom canvas prints are printed with UV-cured ink for long-lasting, vibrant colors. Canvas prints are more textured and traditional-looking than acrylic prints.
No matter which process you use, your personalized print will be a treasure forever.
Substrate refers to the kind of surface upon which a print is mounted. Direct to substrate printing refers to printing an image directly on the surface rather than the image printed on HD photo paper, then mounted to the substrate. In the case of direct to Plexiglass or acrylic prints, the substrate is Plexiglass.
Who Uses Direct to Substrate Printing?
Substrate surfaces are so versatile and durable that they are used by professional artists, galleries, museums, framing shops and specialized printers to enhance the artistry and uniqueness of a photo or fine art piece. Professional mounting finished the artwork and makes it display as if its in a gallery.
We offer two types of plexiglass or acrylic prints: direct to print and paper mounted.
Direct to Print
Our most popular plexi print is direct to plexi, or direct to acrylic. For this print type, we print your photo directly to the back of 1/4″ plexiglass, without paper. This option includes a 2″ border and stainless steel standoffs.
We also offer a plexiglass print solution where you first choose your high definition photo paper, then we mount the paper to the back of the a 1/4″ piece of Plexi. This option is called paper mounted and covers 100% of the plexi. It is mounted with a museum back.

To help your hd photo prints last as long as possible, follow a few simple tips. Keep your digital prints away from any environment that has excessive moisture or heat. To prevent fading, do not place your photos in direct sunlight. You might even want to move your photos from place to place within a room or house to ensure that no one print receives too much sunlight. You can dust your hd photo prints with a feather duster or a lint-free damp cloth. Because acrylic glass surfaces can be easily scratched, take care to be very gentle when you clean them.
No, we never outsource any part of our process. High quality photo printing in high definition requires technology resources and skill, and Artisan has both in spades! Our experienced craftspeople keep an eagle eye on every step of the process – from scanning your photo into a high resolution digital file, to printing your photo on the highest quality medium, direct digital printing, gallery quality mounting, and finally to carefully packing your mounted print to avoid damage during shipping.
Your custom order stays with Artisans all the way from order through delivery. This is how we maintain high definition, high quality photo printing.
Mounting photos on plexiglass / acrylic is an art form in itself. We use face mounting – a labor-intensive method that requires an experienced professional to do it perfectly. This method is often used in art galleries and museums around the world.
Plexi is a type of transparent acrylic. It is often used in place of glass. We use plexi /acrylic because of the superior results it gives when we print to this medium.
What is commonly known as “Plexiglass”, is really a brand of acrylic and today it is sold under many different names, including Acrylite, Lucite and Perspex. Because of our high standards, we insist on using only the best plexi products available.

Yes, we run our LightJet printer with the sharpening feature ON. This is the default setting to ensure your custom hd photo prints and wall art are printed at the highest quality possible. For more information on LightJet and the prints created from it, check out this LightJet FAQ.
However, if you would rather that we not use this feature, we can easily turn it off upon request. Please contact the ArtisanHD customer service department to specify this request with our LightJet printer and to complete your order. We want to ensure your order is completed exactly as you envision it!
The term LightJet is often used to describe a digitally-made chromogenic print. Unexposed silver-halide (AgX) photographic paper is temporarily fixed on an internal drum. Three digitally controlled lasers simultaneously expose the photo-sensitive emulsion on the paper medium (or back-lit transparency medium) with red, green and blue laser light. The amount of light from each laser varies to provide specific color and density values for each pixel imaged to the lightjet print.
A Lesson in Light Leads to a Stunning LightJet Print
The light path includes a spinning, surface-coated mirror mounted on an air bearing that travels along the axis of the internal drum. It reflects the laser light at 90 degrees, allowing for a dimensionally consistent round imaging dot across the entire area of the photographic paper. The purpose of this round imaging dot is to maintain edge to edge sharpness on the final print. The lightjet print is then processed using traditional photochemical means. After this process, the photographic print is handled just as any other photo print.
Face mounting photos to acrylic, also called second surface mounting, is a superior method for ensuring longevity and for giving a professional finished look to acrylic prints. Although it is a delicate process and requires time and a great deal of professional experience, we feel it gives the final product an almost three-dimensional, museum-quality result that is difficult to surpass. The glass also protects the photo from fading, dust and scratches.
With face mounting, we apply a special silicone glue archival crystal clear film adhesive to the print and then mount the front of the acrylic photo to it. The bond between the UV-resistant glass and the photo is airtight. Because of the airtight bond, there is no light reflection between the glass and the photo. It adds depth and makes the photo look like it is part of the acrylic. When paired with our Metallic or FujiFlex photo paper, face mounting photos to acrylic creates a look that has to been seen to be believed. This ensures that vivid colors achieved by the acrylic printing process are not compromised.
We then attach a wooden museum backing to the print. The backing creates a 1″ space between picture and wall, which makes it appear as if it is floating away from the wall, giving additional dimension to the photo.
Canvas prints are photographs reprinted on a canvas surface. Artisan HD (High Definition) uses the highest quality of artist-grade canvas and inkjet printers to reproduce custom canvas prints of your photo. Using our high definition processing, we can turn your photo into a work of art. With our large format printers, we can take your digital photograph and turn it into a gorgeous high definition art canvas, and using our giclée method, we can deliver museum quality reprints — as big or as small as you wish to cover the wall space you want to fill.
Canvas prints are a beautiful alternative or addition to any room, big or small, in your home, or in your office. Much more durable than paper, canvas prints give depth and quality to a photograph that is incomparable.
Finishing Options for Custom Canvas Prints
When you place your order online for personalized digital photo prints on canvas, you have a choice of how the canvas will be finished.
Canvas prints are stretched to fit over a 1.5″ deep wood frame or “stretcher bar”. If you want your prints framed afterwards, you will want to order simply the canvas print. That way you can buy a frame that you feel accentuates and enhances your digital canvas print.
However, if you want your custom canvas prints to stand alone unframed, you will want a gallery-wrapped canvas. Gallery-wrapped canvases are mounted in such a way as to give your photograph a more three-dimensional artistic quality. Some photo subjects look better gallery-wrapped than do others. Large natural landscapes or photos of a flower are good examples of when to choose gallery-wrapped canvas because the mounting process adds to the effect of a story artfully continued.
Our experienced staff will wrap the canvas around all of the edges of a wooden frame and secure the canvas in the back. When complete, the canvas has a totally finished look. No frame is needed and it’s ready for hanging.
Artisan HD will gladly accept a custom order online for a photo to canvas print and will do everything possible to respond to your needs.
Endless Options for a Photo to Canvas Print
If you do not see a size you need or want, we will be happy to work with you to get your digital photo onto canvas. Normally, we can reduce or enlarge any photo to the size of your choice.
When we print canvas photos, we also offer personalized custom choices such as matte or glossy finishes for your canvas reprint. Just tell us your preferences and we will transfer your photo into a masterpiece.
For customized orders, our customer service will make certain that all of your questions are answered.
Digital printing on acrylic is a great alternative to printing on regular photographic paper or other mediums. Acrylic printing has a lustrous glossy finish, which not only adds to the contemporary look, but also brings out a depth and clarity to your photos that are incomparable.
Specially treated, this professional process ensures that your photos will last a lifetime. The mounting process we use also protects your photos from humidity and sunlight, (although you should be careful not to expose them to direct sunlight or high humidity conditions).
Professional printing on acrylic lends a very contemporary look to the final product. It brings the fine art of photography to a whole new level of modern art. We frequently recommend acrylic mounted photos for displaying modern works of fine art and photography.
With the Dibond printing process, we print your image directly onto the surface of the metal using high-resolution flatbed inkjet printers. The metallic effect shows throughout the image; our UV-cured inks are not 100% opaque, which allows the grain and luster of the brushed aluminum Dibond surface to shine through. The lighter the color, the more grain is visible. Once we reach a pure white, you will see the brushed silver surface of the Dibond aluminum panel shine through, giving the print unique highlights and texture. Don’t be afraid to give your creation some attitude – use Dibond printing to take it to the next level. But maybe reconsider that portrait print of Grandma smiling. She’ll end up with silver teeth, and nobody wants that!
Dibond Printing vs. Metallic Paper
On the other hand, Kodak Metallic HD Photo Paper gives your images an overall pearlescent metallic look, perfect for monochrome photography or bright, colorful images where a bit of extra sparkle and pop is desired. Since this is one of our true photographic processes, you may achieve higher definition and detail over Dibond, but Kodak Metallic HD Photo Paper does not feature any metal grain. White will still be close to white, leaning towards a very light silver tone.
Yes, Artisan HD can take your images and create digital photos on acrylic. There are two options when it comes to printing on acrylic: direct to substrate or surface mounted. When your image is printed direct to the substrate surface, such as acrylic or a board, the uv-cured ink bonds to the surface. When it is surface mounted, the image is printed on HD photo paper, then mounted to the acrylic. This is also referred to as second surface or face mounting. Both processes create stunning, professional ways to print digital photos on acrylic.
